Ramble Trail Half Marathon & 8k Announced for 2008 |
December 7th, 2007. Trail Events (www.trailevents.com)
presents the 3rd Annual Ramble Trail Half Marathon & 8k. The
event is scheduled for May 17th, 2008 and will take place on the
rugged and scenic trails in the Uwharrie National Forest.
Race Director, Tim Long, says he expects the event to
fill quickly. Long says, "Based on feedback from the
participants the last two years, I imagine the registration for the
Ramble will be heavy and fast." Racescapes Events and its
spin-off organization, Trail Events have come to be recognized as
innovators in the creation of new and exciting events. Tim
Long says, "Give me some forest and a trail, the more difficult the
better, and we'll get folks out there scrambling up hills, bounding
down descents, slopping through water crossings and generally having
a blast while enjoying the outdoors and staying healthy."
The Ramble will feature a
difficult course with rocks, roots, water, climbs and descents.
Amenities include a rockin' DJ, event shirt, awards for overall,
masters, age groups, food, 4 water/Gatorade stops, and new this year
- finishers medals, silver medals for sub 2 hour finish and bronze
medals for 2:00:01 to 2:30 finishers.

registration for the 2008 Ramble Trail Half Marathon & 8k may be

Racescapes is Expanding and Growing |
September 29th, 2006. Racescapes Events
announces growing partnership with Winning Time. Racescapes
Events (www.racescapes.com)
operates its timing services using Winning Time chip timing systems
(www.winningtime.com), an
Italian company specializing in timing IRONMAN events and cycling
throughout the world.
In recent meetings with Winning Time's USA management
team, Tim Long, Racescapes' President, has decided to more than
double the current timing capabilities of Racescapes. "We're
very excited about this new future of the business," Long says.
"What it essentially means is that we can now provide professional
timing for running, cycling, duathlon, triathlon events with no
limit to the number of participants, 1,000 or 50,000." Tim
Long goes on to say, "The reorganization of Winning Time benefits us
more than I ever imagined.
Racescapes could likely
become one of the largest timing companies in the Southeast."
"The
Director for Winning Time's North American operations is flying in
next week to meet with me to iron out some specifics. It's
incredibly exciting."
Long says that he plans to leverage this
partnership to begin taking on event management and timing of the
overflowing growth of triathlons. He also intends to create
new cycling events in the Southeast. "I've had other cycling
enthusiasts and organizers come to me over the last six months
wanting to start new cycling events in the area since there is such
a dearth of those events here.
"My original business
plan for growth is out the window now," Long states. "This
partnership puts Racescapes at a level I used to only dream about."

TrailEvents.com Released! |
Racescapes is proud to
announce the successful release of www.trailevents.com. Trail
Events' focus is on off-road athletic events such as mountain biking
and trail running. Racescapes' founder, Tim Long, says, "I
participated in an off-road duathlon last year. When I heard
it was being cancelled this year, I decided to take it over. I
never liked seeing an event just disappear, especially one as fun
and unique as the Off-Road Duathlon Series."
Long not only took over the series, but saw it as an
opportunity to grow the awareness of the natural areas in North
Carolina and make a connection between the running and cycling
community. "The Charlotte running community and road races in
general seem to be waning." Long points out, "My vision is to
breathe new life into the local events and expose different sports
and activities to people who may be tired of the same, old 5k's
every year." The
Off-Road Duathlon Series ends tomorrow, December 10th, with the
Heels & Wheels 5k run/10k mtn bike/3k run at Catawba Riverfront
Park. The next trail event will be the New Year 15k Trail Run
on December 31st at Renaissance Park.

Racescapes announces partnership with Athleticore |
Racescapes is pleased to announce a new online
collaboration with
Athleticore
to provide online athletic logbook tracking.

Athleticore features an athletic event and training
log for all kinds of athletes, whether they be runners, bikers,
swimmers, ball players, weightlifters, or whatever.
"I think a big part of fitness and competition is
keeping tabs on yourself... We aren't all pro athletes with our own
dedicated coaches, so we need to be self motivated... Athleticore is a great
way to do that," says Racescapes' Tim Long.
"Athleticore's online log, and the sense of community
Athleticore fosters among its members is very much the same kind of
model we are seeking to strive at Racescapes. It just seemed
like an obvious and easy fit for us."
To access the Athleticore log and become a member,
simply visit

Racescapes' inaugural event is run |
Racescapes today quickly reached another milestone with the running
of the Thomas Street Tavern Four Mile run. The event, while
small, served as a test bed of the Racescapes concept, catering to
amateur athletes from the initial sign-up phase all the way through
to the publication of event results.
"Super
smooth... Just really, really smooth," is how Racescapes' Tim Long
described this initial run through of the Racescapes system.
"We
had a few hiccups, but nothing major, and everyone is REALLY excited
about Racescapes, and eager to help us shake it out," says Long.
"Frankly, I couldn't have hoped for it to go any better than it
did... It's a very laid back event, and the participants were very forgiving of the few snafus we
did have.
"Anytime you have a start-up, whether brick and mortar or in
cyberspace, there's going to be a bit of a learning curve... But
this hasn't been so much a curve as a small speed bump," continued
Long. "The Thomas Street Tavern event proves we can take on
events of a much larger scale without any troubles... But even so,
Racescapes aims to appeal to ALL events, big or small. So we
hope to see the weekly tavern runs remain as a fixture on our
schedule."
The
Thomas Street Tavern is located at 1218 Thomas Avenue in the Plaza-Midwood
community in Charlotte, NC. The four mile run is held every
Thursday night at 7:00PM. |

Racescapes processes first online race
registration! |
Racescapes is pleased to announce the processing of its first online
race sign up!
"I'm just thrilled,"
says Racescape's Tim Long. "A few weeks ago this site was
little more than a glimmer in my eye. To go from nothing, to
being able to open for business and have people respond in a matter
of days is just astounding."
Racescapes was founded
on the principal that users shouldn't be charged heavy fees for
online event registration, and that users are looking for a site
that's more than just another race calendar.
"I really think it's a
concept that's going to fly," says Long. "The response and
feedback so far has been overwhelming." |

Racescapes opens its doors and goes online! |
The
curtain is up and Racescapes is online!
Racescapes believe
athletes shouldn't be overcharged to sign up for road races or
triathlons online. Online signup is convenient and time saving
not just for the participant but for the event organizer as well.
"Some of the fees
being charged for online registrations just make no sense. We
charge only the processing bank fees that we have to pay ourselves,
which ends up being about half of what other online registration
services charge." says
Racescapes Tim Long.
"As a race director, I
WANT folks to sign up online... It's easier for me. So why am
I going to push people away by charging so much? That just makes
no sense to me.
"Paper entries and
checks are real dinosaurs, and can be a hassle to deal with.
With Racescapes' One-Click registration, why would you ever want or
need to fill out a paper race application again?"
