chip with your bib number on race morning and return your chip after
you cross the finish line. If the chip is not returned, there will
be a $30 fee assessed to the participant (no joke).

About the Course - Course Map
HERE
The half marathon course starts on Wood Run Rd. You'll run
apx. 2 miles and then a right turn where you'll enter the Supertree
trail loop. Once you complete the clockwise loop, you'll cross Wood
Run Rd. and enter the Keyauwee trail loop. You'll emerge onto Wood
Run Rd. and continue on the dirt road .5 miles past Wood Run Camp to
a cone in the road. Circle around the cone and return to the Wood
Run Camp and finish line.
The Supertree trail is the easier of the two loops. It is suggested
that you save some energy for the Keyauwee loop as it is much
hillier and strewn with rocks, roots, ruts, and a possibility of
water crossings. There will be four aid stations with water and
sports drink and some energy snacks.
The 8k course starts on Wood Run Rd. You'll run apx. 2 miles
and then a right turn where you'll enter the Supertree trail loop,
run it clockwise, and finish at Wood Run Camp.
Trail running
is different from road running in many regards. The sense of
adventure and challenge is alluring. The sense of accomplishment is
addictive. With the outstanding rewards of trail running there are
also risks. Tripping and falling are common and you should expect
to do both. If you're worried about getting your sneakers dirty,
then stick with the "really exciting" ten or so 5k races on the
roads every weekend. If you are scared to scuff up your knees a
little, then this event is not for you. If you want to have a great
time, meet some of the nicest people in the running community and go
home exhausted with a big dirt caked smile, then join us for the
Ramble.

Alex Sanders finishes with blood, sweat, and dirt. |
